A guide for parents starting their OT journey

General Questions
What is Pediatric OT?
A holistic therapy helping kids build skills for daily living through play, focusing on their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
How do I know if my child needs OT?
If you notice challenges with focus, fine or gross motor skills, sensory processing, or difficulty completing daily routines independently.
Are parents involved in the process?
Absolutely. We believe in a family-centered approach, providing parents with coaching and tools to support their child's progress at home and in school.
Where do sessions take place?
We offer flexible care options, including personalized evaluations and therapy sessions within our clinic setting or out-of-clinic environments like your home.

What happens during the first visit?
The first visit is all about getting to know your family. We conduct a personalized evaluation observing your child’s strengths, challenges, and natural play patterns to create a roadmap tailored just for them.
Can I stay during the session?
Yes, absolutely! We deeply value parent collaboration. Staying allows you to see the strategies in action, and trial the strategies with guidance which makes it much easier to carry the progress over into your child's everyday routines at home.
How long are the sessions?
Standard sessions typically last 45 to 60 minutes. This provides enough time for therapeutic activities, play-based interventions, and a brief check-in with you at the end to discuss home strategies.
Cancellation Policy
We kindly request a 24-hour notice for all cancellations. This allows us to offer the time slot to another family waiting for care. Late cancellations may incur a fee.
Insurance & Fees
We provide transparent billing and  provide up front costs. We are a private rate clinic to ensure we can address your families individual goals and concerns. If needed we can provide a "Superbill" to file insurance reimbursement claims.
Privacy & Data
Your family's privacy is our priority. We adhere to strict HIPAA standards to protect all personal and medical information shared during the therapeutic process.
Common Questions
What age groups do you serve?
We specialize in supporting children from birth through adolescence, tailoring our pediatric occupational therapy to meet the developmental milestones of infants, toddlers, and school-aged children.
Do you offer in-home therapy sessions?
Yes! We believe progress happens best in familiar environments. We provide personalized sessions both at our clinic and directly in your home to ensure your child feels comfortable and supported.
How long does a typical evaluation take?
A comprehensive initial evaluation typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. This allows us to observe your child's unique strengths and challenges and discuss your family's specific goals.
How can I prepare my child for their first visit?
We recommend telling your child they are going to 'play and learn' with a friend. Bringing a favorite toy and ensuring they are well-rested helps create a positive first experience.
What are your clinic hours and location?
We are conveniently located inside STL Nurture Co at 5614 Hampton Ave. We are currently open Monday and Thursday 8AM -5PM and Wednesdays 7:30AM - 12PM..Â
